Container House Factory Audit Checklist
Quick answer

Check six areas: production capacity against your volume, frame fabrication and welding records, coating line and thickness measurement, panel sourcing and lamination, QC records for recent orders, and the packing and documentation process. Ask to see a unit under construction and a completed unit awaiting shipment; the gap between them is where quality lives.

Factory visits tend to become tours of the showroom. The checks below are the ones that predict what your order will look like on arrival.

Six checks

AreaWhat to seeWhat it tells you
CapacityUnits per week, shifts, space for your orderWhether your date is realistic
Frame fabricationCutting, jig, welding, dimensional checkSquareness and strength of the box
CoatingBlasting, primer, topcoat, thickness gaugeCorrosion life, especially at edges
PanelsLamination line or supplier certificatesCore density and bonding quality
QC recordsChecklists, photos, defect log, reworkWhether quality is a system or a promise
Packing and docsPacking method, serial labelling, export fileCondition on arrival

Questions that reveal the truth

  1. Show me the QC record for one recent order and explain a defect entry.
  2. Who measures the frame diagonals and where is the result recorded?
  3. What is the dry film thickness on the last order, and how was it measured?
  4. Which panel supplier, and can I see the latest certificate?
  5. Who prepares the packing list, and how are serial numbers assigned?

Photograph everything

Take dated photos of the line, the welding area, the coating booth, a unit in progress and a finished unit. If you visit more than one supplier, the photos make the comparison honest a month later.

After the audit

Write a short report: capacity against your schedule, the three risks you identified, and the two specification changes that would reduce those risks. Send it to the supplier; how they respond tells you as much as the audit itself.

FAQ

How long does an audit take?
Half a day for a focused audit: production line, one unit in progress, one finished unit, the QC file and the packing area. A full-day audit adds the material store and the export documentation review.
Can it be done remotely?
Partially. A scheduled video walk with fixed checkpoints works for existing suppliers; for a first order, an on-site third-party audit is more reliable.
What is the most telling question?
Ask to see the QC record for a recent order and pick a random defect entry. A factory with real records can explain it; a factory without records will offer a brochure.
