Key features
Folds flat for freight
Z-type hinges fold the walls and roof into a compact package — several units per 40HQ.
Forklift unfolding
No crane required on most sites: a forklift unfolds and positions the unit in under an hour.
Re-usable
Folded and moved to the next project instead of being written off.
Stackable
Corner castings allow stacking up to three levels for camps.
Ten units per 40HQ
The cheapest freight per m² in the range — folding is what makes volume camp orders viable.
Forklift only
Unfolds with a forklift in under an hour; no crane and no site fabrication.
Overview
The Z-type folding container house is built on a 20ft steel base with hinged side and end walls. Folded, the unit is compact enough that a 40HQ container carries several times the number of modules it could carry assembled — the reason folding units work out cheapest per bed on large labour camp orders.
Each module arrives with walls, roof, floor, wiring and lighting in place. A forklift lifts the unit off the truck, the walls unfold on their hinges, the roof panel is fixed and the hinge line is locked; the unit is then connected to the site supply. No foundation slab, no scaffolding and no specialist trades are needed on site.
Typical configurations
- Four to eight bed worker dormitory
- Site office, meeting room or canteen module
- Shared sanitary block with external ablution units
- Storage and workshop modules
Notes for buyers
Folding modules use a simpler internal specification than flat pack or expandable units — internal partitions and bathroom pods are limited by the folding mechanism. For camps that need en-suite rooms, choose the expandable range instead. Tell us the bed count, the destination port and the electrical standard, and we will confirm the layout, the loaded quantity per container and the delivery schedule.

Flat Pack vs Folding vs Expandable vs Modular: Structural Comparison
The four families differ mainly in how much factory work travels with the module. That single variable drives shipping cost, crane needs, assembly hours and the resale value of the unit.
20ft vs 30ft vs 40ft Expandable Container Houses
Choosing between 20ft, 30ft and 40ft expandable container houses affects shipping cost, floor area and layout options. This guide compares shipped footprint, units per load, and typical configurations.
Loading Plan for Container Houses: 40HQ Packing, Weight and Lashing
A loading plan is a document, not a photo of a forklift. It fixes how many modules go in each container, where the heavy items sit, how the load is lashed and what the VGM will be — before the truck arrives at the port.
